About Vault Warden

Vaultwarden (formerly Bitwarden_RS) is an unofficial Bitwarden-compatible server implementation written in Rust. It is designed to be lightweight and run on minimal hardware, including Raspberry Pis.

The server is compatible with all official Bitwarden clients including browser extensions, desktop apps, mobile apps, and CLI. It supports organizations, collections, attachments, and emergency access.

Vaultwarden includes features that are premium in official Bitwarden like TOTP generation, file attachments, and send. It supports SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL backends.

The project is popular among self-hosting enthusiasts and small organizations who want full password management capabilities without subscription costs or reliance on cloud services.
